Colorado Rock Hounding

Here is the largest of the rocks we found while sleucing / panning gold up in Breckenridge that we thought was gold ore.

And some close up views.

While initially we were excited that it was gold ore, the structure looks more crystaline than metal, though it could be an alloy / mixture of gold and some other minerals.

Below are some more of the smaller versions we found too.

These pictures are of another neat rock we found in that same area of the creek. This one has a set of 3 small garnets embedded in it. The metal point is the end of a thumb tack, which should give you an idea of the size of these crystals :)

Here are photos of the lone garnet I found. Small, but cool none-the-less.

The rocks below here were found in Colorado, but during prior trips - I just hadn't taken the time to photograph them so here we go.

This is a large piece of ore that I took from the Phoenix Gold Mine in Idaho Springs.

This is not gold, might be silver though ...

I think this the gold in this ore ...

Nice chunk of Jasper here ...

An Agate ...

And I'm not sure what this, but it looks like a large collection of garnets ..
